Hexatronic Group is joining the Science Based Targets initative

We are proud to announce that we are joining the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and committed to setting ambitious targets to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions in line with the latest climate science and the Paris Agreement's goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels.

Empowering change: Our journey with SBTi for a low-carbon economy

By joining the SBTi, we demonstrate our leadership and responsibility in addressing the climate crisis and supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy. Setting science-based targets will also help us improve our operational efficiency and create long-term value for our stakeholders.

We are taking proactive steps to measure, manage, and reduce its greenhouse gas emissions across our value chain. In 2022, we achieved a 40% reduction of our climate intensity in scope 1 and 2 emissions compared to 2021. Key actions are to secure climate-neutral energy in our operations, increase supplier engagement and work closer with customers to decrease the carbon footprint of our products.

We will follow the SBTi's criteria and recommendations based on the best available scientific evidence and methodologies to set our science-based targets. We will submit our near-term targets for validation by the SBTi within 24 months of signing the commitment letter.

Our previously set target to become a climate-neutral business in scope 1 and scope 2 is still valid.

We are proud to join the SBTi and commit to set science-based targets that reflect our ambition and responsibility to tackle the climate challenge. As a company that strives to deliver innovative solutions in fiber expansion, we believe that setting a science-based target will help us reduce our environmental impact, drive innovation, and create value for our customers and society,” says Henrik Larsson Lyon, CEO of Hexatronic Group.

We understand that establishing a science-based target is only a starting point. It's essential to follow through with practical actions. That's why we're dedicated to collaborating closely with our employees, suppliers, customers and other invested parties. This collaboration aims to implement impactful strategies and actions, enabling us to decrease emissions throughout our entire value chain. We also look forward to collaborating with other companies that share our vision and join the SBTi. Together, we can make a difference and create a more sustainable future for everyone,” continues Henrik Larsson Lyon, CEO of Hexatronic Group.
