Black Hills Broadband’s MDU success: Training, support and scalability

Black Hills Broadband is a South Dakota-based internet service provider committed to delivering fast, reliable, and affordable connectivity to both residential and commercial customers. Their fiber network is built for the modern day, ensuring customers have access to the best experience available.

We found that using Hexatronic, we were able to reduce our upfront costs quite significantly and be able to offer the same service, with the bonus of being able to expand using the microduct we can run more fibers if we needed to.

Challenges

  • As a smaller company, planning for future growth was difficult
  • Managing costs was a constant concern for the team

Approach

•    Able to build networks more efficiently using Hexatronic’s system to lower costs and deliver a better product
•    Used an adaptable network design that made it easy to scale and adjust as needs changed
•    Hexatronic provided hands-on training for the contractor and their team to ensure proper installation and use
•    Durable products allowed for a smaller footprint within MDUs, solving space constraints

Result

  • Contractors gave strong, positive feedback on the ease of use and quality of the materials
  • Reduced upfront costs significantly without sacrificing service quality
  • Gained the flexibility to expand networks in the future by utilizing microducts already in place
  • Achieved a much smaller in-building footprint, making installs faster and more efficient
I’ve gotten nothing but amazing feedback from the contractors working on the project and working with the material.
