Direct Buried Thick-Walled Ducts (North America)

Thick Walled Ducts (TWD) are characterized by heavy wall microducts and a relatively thin outer sheath. The microducts themselves are rugged enough to protect the fiber cables inside.

Typical dimensions for TWD are from 5 mm up to 25 mm with inner diameters from 2.5 mm to 20 mm.

Ducts with inner diameter of 6 mm or larger have longitudinal grooves on the inside to minimize friction, reduce turbulent air flow and increase blowing distance.

To provide a hassle-free installation experience, all ducts are made of low memory materials that minimizes the "curly duct" -effect when rolling out ducts from a drum. During manufacturing, continuous monitoring of dimensions and tolerances are done by e.g. x-ray. 100% of all ducts are tested with an inner clearance test (bullet).

Optionally, Hexatronic microduct assemblies can be supplied with a tracer wire. This enables the duct to be found with a cable locator.
