Cabinets and Pedestals

Cabinets and pedestals for fiber optic installations are normally used as distribution points in fiber access networks such as Fiber to The Home (FTTH). Hexatronic street cabinets are designed for all types of cables, micro cables, nano cables, blown fibers and microducts.

The cabinets are normally used for different applications:

  • Fiber Access Terminals (FAT) are fiber distribution points where incoming cables are distributed to several outgoing cables or blown fibers.
  • Fiber Distribution HUBs (FDH) are similar to FATs, but also incorporate fiber optic splitter. Typical applications for FDHs are in FTTH networks with a Passive Optical Network (PON) topology.

As an alternative to the passive street cabinets, the more compact Pedestals offer the same functionality in a compact design.

Cabinets and pedestals are provided empty or fully configured with connectivity products for splicing and/or connection.

Versions with power feeding, active cabinets, can be equipped with active equipment, switches etc.
